Instructables has a posting on how to make your own headset removal tool. Pretty simple really. I ought to do this myself instead of using and old seat post. You might think about splitting it 4 ways and capping the top with a piece of steel. Or just make the whole thing out of steel. Maybe a piece of galvanized tube.
